Auto Roles

Auto Roles hands out roles automatically, with no reaction or command needed. Use it to give every new member a base role, drop them into a "needs verification" state, or tag everyone for a ping group.

Turn it on

Enable Auto Roles from the Modules page, then open the feature and create a rule.

Rules

Each rule says which roles to assign when a member joins. Create a rule, pick one or more roles, and save. Mody applies them as members arrive.

You can run several rules at once, so different rules can cover different roles. The number of rules you can have depends on your plan. See Premium for higher limits.

Mody needs Manage Roles, and its own role must rank above the roles it hands out. If a rule silently does nothing, check the role order in your server settings.

Reaction Roles vs Auto Roles

• Auto Roles are applied automatically, the same for everyone who joins.
• Reaction Roles let members choose for themselves by reacting.

Many servers use both: an auto role for "member" and reaction roles for opt-in extras.
