Welcome & Goodbye

Greet new members and say goodbye when they leave.

Welcome & Goodbye sends a message when someone joins or leaves your server. Use it to point newcomers at your rules, hand out a starter role, or make the place feel active.

Turn it on

Enable Welcome & Goodbye from the Modules page, then open the feature to set it up. You configure two messages independently:

  • Welcome is sent when a member joins.
  • Goodbye is sent when a member leaves.

Either one can be turned on by itself, so you can greet arrivals without announcing departures (or the reverse).

What you can configure

  • Where it posts. Pick the channel the message is sent to. A welcome message can also be sent to the member as a direct message.
  • What it says. Write the message and drop in placeholders like the member's name or your current member count, which Mody fills in for each event.
  • How it looks. Send a plain message or a rich embed.

Test your message

Placeholders only resolve against a real join or leave event, so test by leaving and rejoining a private server, or have a teammate do it.

  • Auto Roles gives every new member a role automatically.
